A Weekend In St. Helena with Rombauer Vineyards

KMI Blog | A Weekend In St. Helena with Rombauer Vineyards

A couple weeks ago I drove to Napa Valley to see my best friend and attend Auction Napa Valley with her! It was pretty much a darn shame we have been such great friends since we were just teenagers and I hadn't been up to wine taste at her family's winery! We had to end that dry spell and what better weekend for girls time than ANV? Here are some snaps from that weekend and a little guide through the places we ate (and drank) that came highly recommended from Reagan (who grew up right there in St. Helena) that surely did not disappoint!

I was fortunate enough to be included in Rombauer's pre Auction Napa Valley private patio dinner for wine club members, long-time Rombauer lovers and industry partners! It was just a beautiful evening, delicious menu and incredible people to enjoy Rombauer wines with! If you plan to sip your way through the valley at some point, definitely add it to your list. They have recently renovated their caves to make them accessible to the public to tour and you'll enjoy walking around their gardens, not to mention the views from the tasting room are unbeatable! You can check out their tasting room information here and learn about how wine runs deeeeep in their amazing and visionary family here

The next day we attended the ANV Barrel Auction together at Inglenook! Even though it was a bit toasty it was so much fun! I didn't know much about this auction but ended up being brought up to speed and wow they raise so much money for so many wonderful organizations! Each participating winery auctions off a barrel of wine to be bottled and the top 10 bidders are sent a case. Getting to taste your way through the caves, seeing people bid all afternoon (and wanting to knock others out of the top 10) for their favorite wines was so fun!

Shop My Living Room | KMI Blog

Hey, welcome to a little corner of our home! When we moved into our rental I knew I wanted to keep things very simple and clean. When you have a small space to work with, less really is more to keep it feeling open and larger than it is. Give me all the white walls and I can pretty much make any space work from there. I wanted to give you a little tour and give you the chance to shop our living space! Our items and similar are linked below!

A Little Landscaping Inspiration

Kayla MooreComment

We are in a rental, but have a small patch of dirt out front that I'm excited to tackle with my Mother-In-Law when she comes to visit in a few weeks. Her thumb is a lot greener than mine, so she is my go-to expert. I have a few goals in mind for this small little planter... let's go over them!?

1. Budget Friendly

This seems pretty self explanatory and doesn't require a pretty picture. Who wants to invest a bunch of money into a rental property. It can't go with us. I mean I guess we could dig it all up, but idk what the likelihood of that actually is. So we gotta keep it real with the $.

2. Conservative on H20

KMI Blog | Landscaping Inspiration

Using plants and trees that are low maintenance when it comes to being watered are mine all mine for a few reasons. The less I have to remember to water something, the better. Always. And we might as well use less water. CA may not be in a drought (at the moment) because of all the rain we have gotten (PTL) but we might as well use it conservatively, so we aren't in the same situation again anytime soon. Plus, I really like this look with the rocks. It keeps it looking clean and praying it will keep creatures out of it.

3. Varying Heights

KMI Blog | Landscaping Inspiration

The outside of our rental is admittedly SO blah. So I am wanting some varying height in our design. I want to add texture and character to our boring little spot. So I'm hoping finding a few things - some taller than others - will help us achieve some curb appeal!

4. Pops of Color

KMI Blog | Landscaping Inspiration

Usually I would want green, green, green... give me all the greenery please. HOWever. Our place happens to be a reallllly awful - you guessed it - GREEN color. So I'm going to need some soft pops of color to really attract the eye and highlight themselves apart from our green paint.

5. Cactus Goals

KMI Blog | Landscaping Inspiration

One thing I know is sure. I want a planted cactus in a simple, white planter so I have something out of my investments to take with us whenever we go. I love this tall guy and the planter happens to be from Design Within Reach. You can shop it here. If I didn't already have a large one I'll be painting white, I would totally snag it.

Be sure to check back in! When it is finished, I'll post some before and afters of our dessert vibe landscaping!

Shop Small Saturday - House of Belonging

Kayla MooreComment

I'm so excited to be sharing my line up of favorite Etsy shops each Saturday until I run out of favorites!;) It really dawned on me over the holidays that my email is never not overflowing from West Elm, CB2, Target, Wayfair (the list literally goes on) and I'm pretty sure that rings true to just about everrrryone. As much as I'd like to pay top dollar for someone to weed through and monitor my email, the point I'm trying to make is we really should be shopping small and supporting families not just during the holidays, but for a lot of our needs.

Now, don't get me wrong. I have my fair share of home goods & furniture from the big players out there because it too, is often undeniably cute.  But part of our role in supporting each other (and a commitment I am going to make) is before we finalize our checkout process on Target.com...  might we do a quick search through Etsy or a quick stroll through our local farmers market to see if we find something VERY similar to what we wanted but from a #smallbusiness owner who eats, sleeps, breathes their passion and lives it out tirelessly. Chances are you'll find what you are looking for from a local artist or maker. And if not, by all means place that order you are pumped about. I think that is an easy commitment to just do a little local look-see, right?

I think you'll find yourself treasuring those items more than you would have because they are not only one of a kind but you'll feel more connected to your community - whether, local or just the community of creatives online. I'm encouraging you all to join me in supporting those who acted on their dreams, because let me tell you, it is a really long and scary road at times!

Now, first up is House of Belonging. Tiff has an incredible story and is a God fearing inspiration, plus her styling is on point! Follow her on Instagram, here. Send her a little note of congratulation for opening up a store in Kansas City on Facebook, here. And of course SHOP your little heart out, here. Below are a few of my favorites (links to exact products below).
